Energy values flavourings

For flavouring the nutritional contribution is typically from the solvents and carriers. The energy values of flavouring components are not considered in the context of nutritional declarations on food products due to complex chemical breakdown of the components and the negligible amount.

According to EU Regulation 1169/2011 Annex V flavourings are exempted from the requirements of the mandatory nutrition declaration. Flavourings are added in very low amounts to foods. This means that their contribution to the overall energy value of the finished food in most cases is negligible.
