According to EU Reg. 848/2018 regarding ‘Organic production and labelling of organic products’ it is stated that organic products must consist of > 50 % agricultural ingredients, where 95 % of these must be organic in order to claim the product as organic. Water and salt are not considered. Organic products may only contain ‘Natural x Flavourings’ or ‘Organic Flavourings’. Furthermore, organic products may only contain the additives and technical aids listed in the existing implementing regulation 2021/1165 ‘Authorising certain products and substances for use in organic production and establishing their lists’.
